Straight Out of Compton, released in 1999, is director Ryan Combs first venture.
It tells the story of Henry "Hen" Alabaster, a Compton local, who has spent most of his life behind bars. The plot centres around "Hen" who plans to start his own record company and earn major money. To do this he targets a racist politician named Drake Norelli who has made a fortune laundering money. He manages this through the help of his friends Hump, Johnnie and McClure. The film is loosely based around the life and times of The Majillionaire and tells the story of four gangstars just trying to do their thing and get straight outta compton.
